Hola blog readers! Things are going to be moving pretty quickly around here if all goes as planned, I am excited to have such a variety of uniquely beautiful weddings to share. Isla Mujeres has always been one of my favorite locations in Mexico and Jack and Linda’s destination wedding was a great example of what an absolutely perfect destination it is for a wedding! This wonderful pair of New Yorkers was married in private villa on Isla Mujeres called Vista de La Luz Not the rustic cabin that comes to my mind when thinking of Isla Mujeres, but one amazing home and perfect for the wedding ceremony with an intimate group of friends and family. The dinner reception was held at a very beautiful “toes in the sand” venue on the Island’s North Beach, Buho’s restaurant located at the Hotel Maria del Carmen. This beautiful but very relaxed event was coordinated by Weddings Isla Mujeres we look forward to working with this very professional and fun to be around sister team again in the future and would recommend their services to anyone considering a wedding on the Isla. Some of the days photos, beginning with getting ready photos at the villa…

Between the ceremony at the villa and the sunset reception there was not time planned for photos around the island… passing this building Linda and Jack and I stopped the car, and ran to this cool home for a very quick photo…

And made it to the beach reception lication just in time for an amazing sunset.

There is not a week that goes by without several emails in my inbox asking for suggestions of Mexico wedding locations. As much as I would like to point future destination couples in the right direction I always feel that any suggestions I make would come up short since each wedding, couple and group of destination guests has such different needs. As they say in Spanish… zapatero a sus zapatos (or something like that!) There are amazing travel agents specializing in destination weddings and I am sure that they would have more informed suggestions than this photographer (and probably a lot less photos begging to be edited!) That said, it is an awful lot of fun to discover and share neat out of the way locations! On a scouting trip to the Tulum area Justin and Alissa discovered Villa Yardena Located on Soliman Bay, and this private home on the bay was home to their March beach ceremony as well as the poolside reception. Justin and Alissa, thank you, it was an honor to photograph your beautiful day!

Aaahhh, Yucatan! One thing that never ceases to surprise me is how few people outside of Mexico seem to even know the state of Yucatan (as opposed to the more touristy state of Quintana Roo with Cancun and the Mayan Riviera are a part) exists! Yucatan is a very unique state (it was even a separate country for a while there!) full of quirks, interesting customs, an amazing local cuisine (panuchos anyone?) and more history than you will find just about anywhere. Legend has it that if a traveler drinks the water of Yucatan he will become a resident for life (and take my word for it they don’t share this information until after it is too late!). Pierre, who hails from France, and Andrea share a love of sailing and it is only fitting that this lovely couple’s Mexico civil wedding be held on the beach in front of Las Tunas, Andrea’s family’s beach house in the village of Telchac Puerto, Yucatan. Here are a few images from a very intimate and special wedding celebration.

Yucatan’s Gulf of Mexico coast has one of the world’s largest populations of flamingos, a group flew overhead right after the ceremony.

Sahar and Matt’s wedding was held on the beach at one of my favorite Mayan Riviera beach wedding locations, Le Reve in Playa del Carmen. This beautiful beach location seemed just perfect for this couple, relaxed but also elegant. I knew the second I met Sahar that she was high energy all the way! There was seriously never a dull second, the day flew by. Thank you Sahar and Matt, for being so fantastic! All photographs by Elizabeth and Lindsey Medina.

I loved Lindsey’s next shot!

The girls look fabulous!

Following the beach ceremony and cocktails Matt and Sahar had a Persion ceremony. Somehow I ended up photographing while perched in a tree…love the photos though!

The Persian ceremony started off with a bit of dancing, the next photo is Lindsey’s.

I had looked forward to this wedding for quite a while! Having photographed Ana Paulina with her sisters (and of course Junior!) I already knew what a gorgeous a bride she would be and that the civil wedding (this was part 1 for this couple, the religious wedding is coming up in November) to be held during the “temporada” in Uaymitun, Yucatan would be a very special event. Not to mention that it was coordinated by our amazing friends at BAKU Events! There really is no place like home and we are so excited about the upcoming weddings we have this fall here in Merida. It was really fun to see so many familiar faces and it was especially nice to see some of our past and future brides looking so totally fabulous and having such a great time celebrating with Ana Paulina and Gabriel. There is no doubt that Yucatan is an amazing place, in large part because of its wonderful people! Felicidades Ana Paulina y Gabriel, estamos emocionadisimas por la boda en noviembre!

Great news! I have finally made way out of the tunnel known as March wedding editing and lived to tell the tale! Kristina and Ingrid, I am pretty sure you are visiting the blog on a regular basis…. and the good news is yours are the next two weddings and they will be posted soon!
Stephanie and Andy had more than a great wedding day, they had an entire week to share with their group (and a neighboring alligator, yikes!) in a roomy villa overlooking the turquoise water of the Mayan Riviera’s Playa Secreto. The wedding was just beautiful! Stephanie and Andy are high school sweethearts, how fantastic that they were able to become husband and wife in such a beautiful setting.
Stephanie’s sister was unfortunately not able to be present in person because of a last minute complication, but was absolutely present in spirit throughout the entire day! She even appeared on video giving her matron of honor toast a the reception (wearing her dress of course!),
Wow! The bride has a spectacular wedding look!
I never cease to be amazed by some of the fantastic DIY projects that brides pull off, Stephanie’s prgram fans were beautiful and very unique!
Hooray! Let those rose petals fly!
Th wedding party!
Photographs of the bride and groom after the ceremony…
And a few images from the villa wedding reception.

Being a little bit allergic to perfume I guess I have never been able to get on board with the concept of aroma therapy…somehow it just doesn’t seem right that something that makes me sneeze could really be therapeutic. After photographing John and Jessica’s beautiful wedding in Careyes, Mexico I will say I am a true believer in color therapy. Actually Jessica is probably thinking about now that I want to keep her photographs all to myself…I guess they are so much fun and put me in such a good mood remembering this fantastic weekend in an amazing destination on Mexico’s Pacific coast that I have been working on them a little longer than strictly necessary! They are all yours now though John and Jessica! I hope they put a smile on your faces like they have mine! Thank you so much for allowing Lindsey and I to document such a special event, it could not have been more lovely.
The wedding ceremony and reception were held at a private villa overlooking the ocean, the next image was taken after the rehearsal at the villa.
The rehearsal dinner was held down the Costa Careyes beach at Playa Rosa, true to its name it was a celebration of pink.
The preparations and bridal party photos were done at the El Careyes Resort, a perfect location!
I love non matching bridesmaids dresses, Jessica’s color palette was brilliant!
The ‘first look’…then portraits of bride and groom and the wedding party around the resort grounds followed.
The wedding location was fantastic, it had several levels that were perfect for the cocktail hour, ceremony and dinner Julie Cambrell, a fab wedding coordinator from Colorado was on-site and made sure all ran flawlessly. The sunset ceremony…
A few details of the many details and a bit of reception action…
The next afternoon we travelled down the beach with John and Jessica to a secluded cove to “trash the dress” at sunset.
