Ana Paulina y Gabriel, Uaymitun, Yucatan Part 1, Civil Ceremony at the Beach 8 22 09

I had looked forward to this wedding for quite a while!  Having photographed Ana Paulina with her sisters (and of course Junior!) I already knew what a gorgeous a bride she would be and that the civil wedding (this was part 1 for this couple, the religious wedding is coming up in November) to be held during the “temporada”  in Uaymitun, Yucatan would be a very special event. Not to mention that it was coordinated by our amazing friends at BAKU Events! There really is no place like home and we are so excited about the upcoming weddings we have this fall here in Merida. It was really fun to see so many familiar faces and it was especially nice to see some of our past and future brides looking so totally fabulous and having such a great time celebrating with Ana Paulina and Gabriel. There is no doubt that Yucatan is an amazing place, in large part because of its wonderful people!  Felicidades Ana Paulina y Gabriel, estamos emocionadisimas por la boda en noviembre!

Erica and Doug, Day 3, Mayan Riviera TTD session 19 07 09

This was day three of our time with Erica and Doug… an early (or make that very early!) morning trash the dress “day after” session. These sessions have become something of a “must do” for many destination couples. They really are a nice chance for photography that is just not possible on the wedding day. Erica was very prepared and had a second dress on hand for the “trashing”. I think that someday when Erica and Doug are old and grey this will be a fun memory of their very first day as Mr. and Mrs.!

PS, If you haven’t seen the last blog post be sure to scroll down and check out the photographs from Erica and Dougs’s beatiful July wedding at the Barcelo.

Mayan Riviera Wedding Photography Erica and Doug’s Mexico Destination Wedding Weekend 07 18 09

Unforgettable! Lauren and I had a wonderful time photographing Erica and Doug’s weekend at the beautiful Barcelo Mayan Palace in the Mayan Riviera. These two make an awesome couple and had a really fun group of family and friends make the trip to Mexico to celebrate their marriage.  Erica is a graphic designer (I have had quite a few graphic designers as brides and grooms and always expect that it will make for an eye catching event!) and had applied her artistic vision all through the wedding planning. It was fun to see all the details that she had prepared, here is a little peek a the many photographs from the welcome dinner white party that was held on the beach the night before the wedding and the wedding mass the next day at the Barcelo’s Catholic chapel. Thank you Erica and Doug, it was an amazing weekend! We loved spending it with all of you! Mucho amor para siempre!

The welcome dinner was held the evening prior to the wedding. We were able to do some more casual photos of the bride and groom before heading to the party on the beach.

A few ophotographs from the ceremony and some group portraits on the beach, it was another very hot day, the bridesmaids and groomsmen were such troopers!

The reception was held in a beautiful French restaurant at the Barcelo Maya Palace. It was perfect for Erica and Dougs elegant destination style. This crowd know how to party, they were dancing from the very start of the reception!

Playa del Carmen Photography, Beautiful Day with a Beautiful Couple…Riu Palace Resort in Playacar, Mexico

Or should I say a hot day with a hot couple?  :-)  Also true! It had to be one of the hottest days of the year, hopefully of the century! But with the clear blue sky and the gorgeous turquoise blue Playa de Camen water just perfect for a wedding, especially with Megan and Michael, a lovely couple who didn’t need much encouragement to go for it and fit in a mini trash the dress session before the reception. (Did I mention it was a hot day?). These two have so much fun together, it was fun to see all the laughter in the photographs!  Congratulations to you both! Lindsey and I wish you all the best in your life together!

San Miguel de Allende Photographer, Jessica and Scott’s Destination Wedding 07 04 09

Too many photos, I know, I know! There is just no way I can keep this blog entry reasonable…not for Jessica and Scott´s San Miguel de Allende bash! As I overheard a guest comment after the fireworks went off… no one else will ever be able to have a wedding after this one! The wedding was held in San Miguel de Allende, which could not be more perfecto! Jessica and Scott had put so much thought into every detail of the multi day celebration, it was an honor for Lindsey and I to document the fun! The evening before the wedding the festivities began with a ¨tequila tasting¨ (like a wine tasting Central Mexico style!), the entire group of guests, musicians, photographers and one tequila bearing donkey danced through the streets of San Miguel, what could be more fun?

We were able to do some quick bride and groom photos before dinner began, I love love San Miguel for photos, every doorway is an amazing background! The next shot is Lindsey´s.

I loved this photo of Jessica and Scott listening to the father of the groom give a toast. They had such a beautiful interaction with their families and friends it was wonderful to witness.

emedina_blog_625_07

The wedding day festivities were held at an amazing colonial home called Casa Capricho. The next images are from the pre wedding portion of the day. We were fortunate that Jessica and Scott had planned a first look so we were able to do some photography with the two of them…before it began to rain!

A wonderful thing about having your wedding in a private villa (and being calm and flexible!)  is control over timelines. Jessica and Scott were able to move their timelines a bit and the afternoon turned beautiful in time for the rooftop ceremony to go on beautifully.

This photo really sums up the whole event for me, people were laughing and crying happy tears all day! So much emotion!

The coctail hour was held on the roof and the dinner reception in the main courtyard below. I am posting extra detail shots, I loved the colorful Mexican tables and wanted to share with all the future brides!

Wedding photography in the Mayan Riviera, Sandy and Benny at the Barcelo Mayan Palace in Mexico 6-19-09

Hola! I hope that all my blog readers have been enjoying this beautiful summer! I know we have! While editing has been going a little slower than hoped for it has been an absolute delight to work with the images from the last weddings of summer 2009, such awesome people and all around amazing weddings!  Sandy and Benny, thank you for waiting so patiently for your photographs! I am so happy to finally be able to share them with you!

Sandy and Benny were married in a Catholic ceremony at the chapel of the Barcelo Mayan Palace…I don’t know what to say other than that the bride and groom and their wedding party were awesome, and the the entire event a joy to photograph. Sandy and Benny originally found us through the photographs of Rocio and Eliazar’s wedding last year in Playa del Carmen, the two couples live in the US and have mutual relatives who were members of both wedding parties. When shooting destination weddings it is so much fun to see familiar faces among the wedding guests and to hear comments about the wedding album from people who live so far away. It truly is a small world!

After photographs of the very large family and bridal party we had quite a bit of time for portraits and despite the very hot day Sandy and Benny were real troopers about making the most of it!
