Wendy and Rob are seasoned travelers who reside in Scotland and obviously have a romantic and adventurous spririt. After all what could be more romantic than to be married on one of their trips? The couple was joined by two close friends for a wedding at the Hacienda Chichi Suarez in Merida, Yucatan which was very intimate and beautiful. I really loved the photographs that Lindsey and I were able to capture through out the day´s events in the different areas of this historic hacienda. Thank you Wendy and Rob! I hope you enjoy the photographs! Event coordination BAKU Events. All images ©2012 Elizabeth and Lindsey Medina
Getting ready, Merida Centro, Casa de Las Sirenas:

The lovely ceremony was held in the ruins of the Hacienda´s Casa de Maquinas.

The group was serenaded by mariachis in the hacienda´s wine cellar, then it was time for a candlelit dinner on the lawn of the hacienda. Amazing!

Hola blog readers… I know, I know! Long time no blog! Crazy but this month marks the five year anniversary of this little wedding photography blog! (and even more amazing the website itself has been going strong for over a decade!) Ironically we seem to have celebrated this blogging milestone by playing blog hooky, stealing extra time to work on images from some very special weddings as well as other very exciting creative projects. Jared and Wadia’s wedding is more than enough reason to pick things up. This lovely couple reside in the US but incorporated a great deal of Yucatecan charm in their wedding celebration, beginning with the welcome dinner at the Hacienda Chichi Suarez in Merida. An enormous amount of rain that fell over the weekend, however far from slowing anyone down it only seemed to add to the adventure! Wedding photography coming soon! All photographs Elizabeth and Lindsey Medina.
Here are few photographs from Wadia and Jared’s casual photo session and the hacienda welcome party that followed. Location: Hacienda Chichi Suarez, Event Coordination: Icela Cardenas, Celebra Events.

After being an extremely warm and humid afternoon the skies finally opened up and poured just as the party was to start! And no this did not stop anyone from having a fantastic time!

This was one unforgettable wedding! Canadians Alexis and Alain were married at the Hacienda Chichi Suarez in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, this destination wedding had a marvelous turnout with a very cosmopolitan group of guests, it was so cool to hear many different languages being spoken at one wedding. I may be a little biased but with its uber charm and unique culture I am truly convinced that there could not be a more perfect wedding location than Merida. Alexis and Alan’s wedding was almost certainly the most multifaceted we have photographed, making wonderful use of the different areas that this hacienda has to offer. This blog post of images captured on the activity filled wedding day will be followed up with a “part two” featuring festivities held on other days (and even another city!) as well as a very special day after ‘”trash the dress” session with this great couple! Alexis and Alain, thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality, I hope these photographs take you and your families back to this great day, more to follow very soon! This amazing event was coordinated by Baku Events All photographs Elizabeth and Lindsey Medina.
Bride and groom and their families and wedding parties gathered for photographs prior to the ceremony… it was a very warm day to put it mildly and their efforts were greatly appreciated.

I think Alexis and Alain’s “first look” could have been a blog post all by itself, it was fun to photograph them when they first saw each other as bride and groom!

Wedding party and family photographs taken before the ceremony…

Alexis receives a private blessing from her father and soon to be husband immediately before the ceremony.

OK, I will confess… despite being there and the many hours spent editing, seeing the photographs of Alexis’ beautiful ceremony entrance here on the blog just gave me a fresh set of goosebumps!

The haceienda “casa de maquinas” was a beautiful stage for a ballet performance during the post ceremony cocktail hour.

Reception entrance and dancing…

After the dinner reception guests moved to the pool area for an after party and fireworks to finish off the night.

Walking on sunshine. Woa-o… If wedding photo sessions had soundtracks I am pretty sure that’s what would have been playing during Ana Cristina and Rodrigo’s wedding day photo shoot at the Hacienda Chichi Suarez in Merida, Yucatan. Lindsey and I were blessed with an unbeatable trifecta… a delightfully happy, ultra low maintenance couple, one of my favorite playgrounds, the hacienda Chichi Suarez and to top it off plenty of time on a fall day that could not have been more divine.
It didn’t surprise me for a minute that these two even had rainbows without a rain cloud in sight! Rodrigo y Ana Cristina, muchas felicidades!

The first look, bride and groom arrived at the same time in separate cars, it was so fun to see them so thrilled to meet up as bride and groom and get their day rolling.

Nothing like kicking off the wedding season with a beautiful local event that takes us back to our hacienda wedding photography roots! Having known Daniela for some time and having photographed her brother Paco with his bride Zahia back in May we knew it was going to be a wonderful day spent in very good company. Hacienda Chichí Suarez dates from the 16th century, we have photographed a few events in this location and love the way different spaces have been used in a way that has made each event seem very unique. Daniela and Alejandro had their wedding at 1:00 pm, which allowed for wonderful photography opportunities. …I love love love seeing and working with natural light, there is just nothing like it!
The first one is Lindsey’s photo, what a lovely composition!
Daniela was an extremely beautiful bride!
Daniela and one of her “pajes”
The next one is Lindsey’s, I wish it were mine though!
The two familes together…
The reception had such colorful details! All perfectly tied toghether but very unexpected, just perfect for this afternoon wedding… a very unique twist on the hacienda setting! My regular blog readers have probably deduced, this Merida, Yucatan wedding was designed and coordinated by my friends at BAKU Events. I really can’t say enough good things about the BAKU team, it is a real treat to watch them in action as they work their magic!
We were ablet o do a few more photographs around the hacienda grounds before it was time for Alejandro and Daniela’s ‘first dance” as husband and wife.
First dance and father daughter dance…
Many more coming soon!
