Heidi and Chris were married on a beautiful sunny day in Mexico’s Riviera Maya at one of our favorite wedding locations, the El Dorado Royale. This was an amazing fiesta, family and friends had such a great time celebrating with the delightful bride and groom! I am sure there is no way to overstate how much dreaming, planning and thought  goes into each wedding. I am sure that a great deal of thought went into the planning of this destination wedding. I know that for the bride and groom and their loved ones this once-in-a-lifetime day must have flown by in the blink of an eye! I really hope that the photographs Lauren and I fortunate to be able to capture on the wedding day (and at the trash the dress session the next morning!) will somehow help to turn back the calendar and stop the clock, allowing them to re-experience this great day spent with family and friends in Mexico… not just once but for years as part of the beautiful history of a wonderful new family. Peter and Francesca were married on the beach at the Hotel Esencia, a very lovely villa style boutique hotel in the Mayan Riviera. The wedding day was one of the very windiest days I can remember experiencing with the exception of actual hurricanes, just crazy windy, but it did not seem to slow anyone down a bit! One of the best things that I have noticed about destination weddings is that the cool people are the ones who are sure to attend. This crowd absolutely proved that theory true, it was a great party!

Esencias’s wedding coordinator Damarys Diaz was joined by Mayan Riviera wedding planner Yazmin de la Mora in making this beautiful day a reality. A few photos of the beautiful beach wedding details.

The cocktail hour, and dinner reception were held poolside overlooking the ocean.

Something I really enjoy about photographing destination weddings is the chance to meet and spend time with such a diverse group of people from all over… and I have to say that it has been proven over that when you come right down to it no matter what nationality you have there is nothing that brings people together like the destination wedding experience. Also (and this is off the record) I have also noticed that there is no one like Canadians  to be totally crazy when the party gets going!  Tiffany and Colton came to Mexico with a very close knit group, I am actually pretty sure that all of their guests were family and that made for a really relaxed and emotional celebration. It was hard to narrow down the images for this blog post, here are some favorites from the wedding day and TTD session the next morning.

The weather was all over the place, pouring rain, crazy humidity, and later bright sunshine… fortunately everyone rolled with it and all in all it could not have been a more beautiful day! Details photos by Lindsey.

A few moments from the ceremony… so many different emotions. I love the first image that was captured by Lindsey.

Sand ceremony containers, this beach wedding tradition is similar to the unity candle, the two different containers of sand our joined into one.

Oops, almost made a big mistake on positioning here… as a symbol of their good wishes the guests all threw stones into the ocean that were engraved with meaningful words like “love” family” “balance”, etc. At the very last minute I realized that if I remained in my vantage point facing the guests in the shallow water I was about to be pelted with stones! Probably not too healthy for the camera lens, let along the photographer!

The flower girl listened to all the toasts and applause throughout dinner. When she was finally able to get her hands on the microphone she gave one of the most entertaining toasts ever!

Wedding day energy…there is nothing like it! One thing I love about wedding photojournalism is that there are so many emotions being experienced though out the day, documenting the joyful, beautiful real emotions (and also of course the craziness of it all) is an absolute adventure and the only thing that you can know for sure is that no two weddings are ever alike! Michael and Kelly are a fantastic couple with absolutely amazing energy for being in the moment and enjoying each other and the group of family and friends that joined them in Mexico. The day seemed to fly by so fast! I think one of the most wonderful thing about photography is its ability to stop time, I was so amazed while editing the photos by how many once in a lifetime moments were to be found in the images that Lauren and I were fortunate to be able to capture on this incredible day.

Fiesta!

Great news! I have finally made way out of the tunnel known as March wedding editing and lived to tell the tale! Kristina and Ingrid, I am pretty sure you are visiting the blog on a regular basis…. and the good news is yours are the next two weddings and they will be posted soon!

Stephanie and Andy had more than a great wedding day, they had an entire week to share with their group (and a neighboring alligator, yikes!) in a roomy villa overlooking the turquoise water of the Mayan Riviera’s Playa Secreto. The wedding was just beautiful! Stephanie and Andy are high school sweethearts, how fantastic that they were able to become husband and wife in such a beautiful setting.

Stephanie’s sister was unfortunately not able to be present in person because of a last minute complication, but was absolutely present in spirit throughout the entire day! She even appeared on video giving her matron of honor toast a the reception (wearing her dress of course!),

I never cease to be amazed by some of the fantastic DIY projects that brides pull off, Stephanie’s prgram fans were beautiful and very unique!
