Happy Friday! Working a little overtime here to finally update the blog. I have been really excited to share the photographs from Melanie and David’s beautiful Jewish wedding at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. This fast paced November wedding was one of the most enjoyable weddings I can remember with lots of action and totally fun people! The Banyan Tree Mayakoba is gorgeous… Melanie and David’s wedding chuppah was set up on a rooftop terrace and the reception’s surprise location was at MK Blue, an amazing relaxed beachside venue. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was when couple, serenaded by an energetic mariachi band, led their guests from the cocktail venue down a candle lit, tree lined wooden path past the beautiful reception area all the way to the dance floor where the mariachi switched over into Hava Nagila and the Hora broke out… truly an unforgettable party! Event coordination for this breathtaking Banyan Tree wedding was by Solen Bodas.
Lindsey and I took a few getting ready and bridal photos then first look and off to catch some beautiful light:

We had a few minutes before the guests arrived for some available evening photos of the bride and groom, here are a few of many favorites:

Such a beautiful couple, gorgeous day, lovely location… And best of all a very close group of friends and family celebrating the bride and groom.Between all the laughing and happy tears this was probably one of the most beautifully emotional weddings we have photographed. After all of the hours spent editing the photographs I still can’t watch the wedding slideshow without getting choked up! Sheila and Jesse, Lindsey and I loved shooting your wedding. We could not be happier for the two of you and your family! Congratulations!
Yo9u have to love a best man who takes his job seriously!
The ceremony was held on the skydeck of Azul Sesnatori…

Lots of speeches and each one more heartfelt (or hilarious) than the last…

It is always exciting to be able to photograph a wedding in Cancun. It truly is an amazing destination, and I really can´t imagine a more breathtaking backdrop for a wedding than Cancun´s white sand and bright turquoise water. Stephanie and David were such a beautiful and happy couple! Add in a healthy dose of color popping wedding details and plenty of love and how could the wedding photographs be anything other than bright and joyful? Stephanie and David we thank you and wish you all the best!

Every once in a while I have a conversation with someone who as hard as they try just can’t wrap their mind around the idea of a destination wedding. Why would a couple decide to break with tradition and be married far from home? Why on earth would their friends and family even consider leaving the comfort of home to travel so far to attend the wedding? While I am not able to put the special feeling of a destination wedding into words I am pretty sure that anyone who has attended a destination wedding in an amazing location like Playa del Carmen, Mexico (and I am sure this applies to so many other incredible destinations!) completely gets the attraction! I know that I have witnessed enough destination wedding good vibes to have been made a true believer! And hopefully photos like those we were fortunate to be able to capture for Jillian and Vince will make a few converts of their own!
Jillian and Vince’ celebrated their dream wedding with on a beautiful, private, palm tree lined stretch of Playa del Carmen, Mexico beach and then danced the night away pool side. I could not be happier to share the photographs of this lovely couple’s relaxed and beautiful event. Event coordination for this beautiful weather was by Luisa and Galena of Weddings Riviera Maya. I guess I would have to say that other than the opportunity to make good use of my share of the creativity (something I am convinced we are all blessed with!) my favorite thing about photographing weddings would be the fabulous people met along the way, whether they be colleagues and clients. Shani and Steven,…WOW! Lindsey and I have loved getting to know the two of you very much, thanks for sharing your celebration at the Mayan Riviera’s Azul Sensatori Resort. The first photos I am posting are from the morning after trash the dress session, followed by the wedding day images. All images Elizabeth and Lindsey Medina.

Wedding day at Azul Sensatori. It had looked like it might rain but turned out to be a fantastic day!
