Cancun Wedding Photography, Rachel and Aaron’s Excellence Playa Mujeres Beach Wedding

Here we go, as promised I will be updating this blog often over the next weeks, so please be sure to scroll down so you don’t miss any amazing weddings! Rachel and Aaron’s destination wedding in Cancun…what can I say? This was a beautiful couple in every way, such a pleasure to photograph together as they experienced their day. The ceremony was held on the beach of the brand new Excellence Playa Mujeres, which is outside Cancun. It was a very emotional (somehow Rachel seemed to manage to laugh and cry at the same time!) and very joyous ceremony. Basically it was a perfect day and a real treat for the photographers.

The bride and groom had a fantastic suite with a private deck terrace overlooking the ocean, it was a wonderful spot to meet before the ceremony.

Recognize these two? We met when I photographed their Cancun wedding in late August. It was great to hang out with them again at this wedding…hopefully next time they come to Mexico it will be to Merida! Although I will have to make Reggie promise to stop stealing my thunder with his fast photo delivery.

Rachel entered the ceremony on both parent’s arms.

I loved this photograph of Aaron waiting at the “altar”.

Yes, I have said it before and I will say it again, destination weddings are the BEST! What a blessing to be able to tell the story of such a happy day!

Xcaret Eco Park Wedding Photography, Laura and Mark, Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Sorry blog readers! I know I have been a little slow in updates for the past few weeks but now the fall rush is over I am going to be updating this blog often with some wonderful and unique November and early December weddings. It will be worth the wait I promise! I hope you will bookmark and check back often! Here is a perfect wedding to get the ball rolling again.  Laura and Mark planned a spectacular event at the Xcaret Eco Park near Playa del Carmen in the Maya Riviera. I am sure their destination wedding will be talked about for quite a while, it was that memorable. Laura y Mark, estuvo increible la boda, ¡felicidades a los dos!

Before the ceremony I met Laura at the Iberostar Tucan in Playacar for some getting ready photos. She looked amazing and I loved her Pronovias gown, perfect for this beautiful Spanish bride. The rings:

The beautiful bride:

Ready to head to the Xcaret Park for the wedding…

By the time we met up with Mark the light was starting to fade, we ran (seriously) to the butterfly pavillion for a few quick photographs and then caught the last bit of daylight at the ocean.

Laura is not a fan of the “traditional” wedding photos…and of course neither am I, but I swear I couldn’t help capture this one when I saw it, it would have been a crime to not record that scene.

The ceremony site was a beautiful stone altar overlooking the ocean

El beso…

The cocktail hour was held in a location overlooking the ceremony site.

After the cocktail hour everyone walked through the jungle to the reception site, meeting up with Mayan warriors along the way.

At the end of the journey…

This was waiting…

First dance, and FIESTA….

Kevin and Sarah, Wedding and Trash the Dress Photography at the Royal in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Kevina nd Sara were a wonderful couple to work with. Kevin had been my point of contact during the planning stages so I knew he was very enthusiastic about having great wedding photographs. He and Sarah were so patient, they really collaborated to go the extra mile for their photographs, both on the wedding day and by waking up the morning after the wedding for a sunrise trash the dress session at 6 AM on the beach in Playa del Carmen. They had some great surprises for their guests on the wedding day. Every one seemed so happy for the bride and groom, and I have absolutely never seen a happier mother of the groom as Sarah was welcomed into the family! Here are some images form the weddign day and the fabulous trash the dress session the next morning…I think it was worth the 5 am alarm clock, which is saying a lot!

A couple of images from the trash the dress photo session…the name of this fishing boat was ¨corazón¨, or ¨heart¨in Spanish.

One thing about portrait photography is knowing how to connect with subject and knowing how to pace the session for the most variety and expressions possible. During the wedding day and the trash he dress session Sarah and Kevin were such good sports and we got all kinds of photographs of the two of them but I still felt like there was something a little below the surface yet and that it would make a special photograph. When I saw the image below in my camera´s viewfinder I think I actually said ¨That´s it!¨ Just what I had been after!

The rings…

Sarah´s beautiful dress.

A few shots from the ceremony in the Gazebo at the Royal in Playa del Carmen. Happy, happy bride…

The gazebo and sand ceremony…

This one is kind of a funny moment…Only at a resort wedding would you see something like this!

One of the surprises for the wedding guests was the mariachi group.

6 AM, time to trash the dress! Sunrise in the Maya Rivera happens over the ocean.

I loved the textures in this image.

Tanya and Darrell, Destination Wedding at The Grand Sirenis Resort, Akumal, Mexico

Tanya and Darrell were so much fun to photograph! They (along with family and friends) came all the way from Canada for their beach wedding in the Maya Rivera. Tanya had created all kinds of unique and special details for the wedding, We thought the water bottles were so neat, the contents label said 100% RDA love, 100% friendship and 100% admiration. All through out the day I could tell that the label summed up Tanya and Darrell’s relationship perfectly!

I thought the beach at the Grand Sirenis was one of the most natural and pretty I have seen, Akumal has always been one of my favorite places in the Maya Riviera.

I thought the beach at the Grand Sirenis was spectacular, it is in Akumal which is one of my favorite areas of the Rivera Maya.

One of Tanyas many handmade details were the programs they were very special, I thought they would make a fun background for a shot of the rings.

Darrell and the groomsmen, pre ceremony.

Tany’s shoes, the hair feathers were worn at the reception, she also had a second dress for dancing.

I love doing bridal portraits, Tanya was really a joy to photograph.

In addition to bridesmaids and a man of honor Tanya had two jr. bridesmaids, they did a great job!

The ring bearer and flower girl during the ceremony on the beach..

There was no end of amazing backgrounds for pictures at the Grand Sirenis, Tanya and Darrell were a lot of fun to photograph because they were very happy and natural in front of the camera.

I was photographing Tanya and turned around to see Darrell’s happy faces as he admired his new bride.

One last photograph. Thank you Tanya and Darrell and congratulations to the two of you!
